What does this huge model represent? For this workshop, the students are invited to observe the work.
The houses that make up the work were designed by architects at the request of the artist although they were never actually built. Using graphic panels hung on the wall, children can find the houses in the model; one photo per child enables them to find the photo on the wall that corresponds to the designed house in the work. Then, using Kapla, each child will make a temporary individual model: the aim is to design a house in which one would feel at ease, a house invented and dreamed of. At the end of the workshop, like in Ai Weiwei’s work, each construction will be destroyed in order to allow the opportunity to create again.

Abi-Tanti La Multitude Migrante originated in 2000 at the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea.
It’s a worldwide project that questions the concept of identity and difference, the encounter, the other, the stranger, the foreigner through now more than 11000 humanoid forms. These can be characterized by their different external appearances, obtained by assembling diverse materials in many different colors, on a common wooden base similar to DNA and therefore evocative of the concept of family.
The idea of a migrant multitude alludes to the crossing of borders and the limits therefore imposed. The Abi-Tanti are made from a wooden base with elements to be assembled that are coated with different materials, colors and graphic signs in order to create new identities. It’s a collective game, a meeting place and a space for positive confrontation that finds itself in a public setting accessible to everyone.
For its edition at Les Moulins, the participants used Galleria Continua paper invites to dress their Abi-Tanti and to explore these concepts of identity, difference, meeting and the other.

When looking through Leila Alaoui’s works several themes appear; cultural differences, migrants, routes and landscapes.
A common denominator is present, even if not actively so; the Mediterranean. A crossroads of man and of stories, the Mediterranean allows itself to be crossed and welcomes the footprints of these journeys. To recreate this exchange, we will focus on the sea, starting from a sheet and using a sphere and paint, we can leave our own traces. Here, our sea becomes an active space where the children can share and get to know each other.

Does a contemporary work of art remain current? This project approaches this question.
The curatorial education team from the collection Giulio Di Gropello specifically looks into this question with schoolchildren. This exhibition has been planned and finalized with an educational purpose. At the start of the exhibition, each visitor is given a notebook where they can record their observations. These thoughts will then be brought together in a dedicated space for the atelier and it’s a tool to explore the dialogue between the public and the works.
The Giulio di Gropello collection exhibition was specially designed for students as an educational exhibition. It was developed in three distinct stages in which the artwork is revealed to whoever observes it: a silent visit, an audible visit and an educational visit.

Relating to the works of Anish Kapoor exhibited at the Moulin de Sainte-Marie, students work on the concept of space, both full and empty.
The tools to be worked with are words and the body, allowing the student to measure themselves against the monumentality of Kapoor’s work, its cavities and the size of the premises of the former Arjomari factory. Galleria Continua proposes this participative workshop in which the students will be the actors. To understand Kapoor's work, we try to establish a physical relationship with it. Through his installations, the artist places us in front of the void and the sensations it can cause. This emptiness is not an abstract concept for Kapoor, but a tangible sensation conveying loss of reference and stimulation. In front of the Kapoor, we realize that the body is an important means of understanding the world and that this means reacts in relation to space, an object or the other.

Pascale Marthine Tayou defines himself as a traveller-explorer; he creates new relationships between materials.
In his works, different genres and cultures come together and merge. Here, each object is reinvented and tells us a unique story. Each child will be immersed in the world of Tayou through the colors, objects and meanings to be found in the artist's works, they will be invited to tell a new story from inside the world of Pascale Marthine Tayou. A real and vibrant experience!
