Relating to the works of Anish Kapoor exhibited at the Moulin de Sainte-Marie, students work on the concept of space, both full and empty. The tools to be worked with are words and the body, allowing the student to measure themselves against the monumentality of Kapoor’s work, its cavities and the size of the premises of the former Arjomari factory. Galleria Continua proposes this participative workshop in which the students will be the actors. To understand Kapoor's work, we try to establish a physical relationship with it. Through his installations, the artist places us in front of the void and the sensations it can cause. This emptiness is not an abstract concept for Kapoor, but a tangible sensation conveying loss of reference and stimulation. In front of the Kapoor, we realize that the body is an important means of understanding the world and that this means reacts in relation to space, an object or the other.
DANS un univers en couleurs - Pascale Marthine TAYOU - Depuis 2016
Pascale Marthine Tayou defines himself as a traveller-explorer; he creates new relationships between materials. In his works, different genres and cultures come together and merge. Here, each object is reinvented and tells us a unique story. Each child will be immersed in the world of Tayou through the colors, objects and meanings to be found in the artist's works, they will be invited to tell a new story from inside the world of Pascale Marthine Tayou. A real and vibrant experience!
Ordos 100 - Ai Weiwei – 2013
What does this huge model represent? For this workshop, the students are invited to observe the work. The houses that make up the work were designed by architects at the request of the artist although they were never actually built. Using graphic panels hung on the wall, children can find the houses in the model; one photo per child enables them to find the photo on the wall that corresponds to the designed house in the work. Then, using Kapla, each child will make a temporary individual model: the aim is to design a house in which one would feel at ease, a house invented and dreamed of. At the end of the workshop, like in Ai Weiwei’s work, each construction will be destroyed in order to allow the opportunity to create again.
Abi-Tanti - Michelangelo Pistoletto – 2013
Abi-Tanti La Multitude Migrante originated in 2000 at the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea. It’s a worldwide project that questions the concept of identity and difference, the encounter, the other, the stranger, the foreigner through now more than 11000 humanoid forms. These can be characterized by their different external appearances, obtained by assembling diverse materials in many different colors, on a common wooden base similar to DNA and therefore evocative of the concept of family.
The idea of a migrant multitude alludes to the crossing of borders and the limits therefore imposed. The Abi-Tanti are made from a wooden base with elements to be assembled that are coated with different materials, colors and graphic signs in order to create new identities. It’s a collective game, a meeting place and a space for positive confrontation that finds itself in a public setting accessible to everyone.
For its edition at Les Moulins, the participants used Galleria Continua paper invites to dress their Abi-Tanti and to explore these concepts of identity, difference, meeting and the other.
La Méditerranée - Leila Alaoui – 2016
When looking through Leila Alaoui’s works several themes appear; cultural differences, migrants, routes and landscapes. A common denominator is present, even if not actively so; the Mediterranean. A crossroads of man and of stories, the Mediterranean allows itself to be crossed and welcomes the footprints of these journeys. To recreate this exchange, we will focus on the sea, starting from a sheet and using a sphere and paint, we can leave our own traces. Here, our sea becomes an active space where the children can share and get to know each other.
And what, for example, am I now seeing ? Collection Giulio Di Gropello - 2017
Does a contemporary work of art remain current? This project approaches this question.
The curatorial education team from the collection Giulio Di Gropello specifically looks into this question with schoolchildren. This exhibition has been planned and finalized with an educational purpose. At the start of the exhibition, each visitor is given a notebook where they can record their observations. These thoughts will then be brought together in a dedicated space for the atelier and it’s a tool to explore the dialogue between the public and the works.
The Giulio di Gropello collection exhibition was specially designed for students as an educational exhibition. It was developed in three distinct stages in which the artwork is revealed to whoever observes it: a silent visit, an audible visit and an educational visit.
With the creation of the Skatepark Continua, an urban treasure in the middle of the countryside, GALLERIA CONTINUA continues to evolve, becoming ever more hybrid.
The Skatepark Continua is part of the architectural and landscape renovation of Le Moulin de Sainte-Marie that started in 2010 by Galleria Continua. As soon as you enter the site, it appears in curved shapes that extend above the vegetation. Following the old railroad tracks which crossed this industrial site, the skatepark winds between trees and shrubs. It extends for 110 meters; it connects the different buildings on the site and becomes a landscape walk for the skaters and the visitors to the contemporary art exhibitions. In this snake run, made up of a range of varying sequenced forms, the skaters, scooters, intermediate or beginner, come together. The conception of the Skatepark is largely empirical. The long, curved line of the park is a result of the attention paid to the specificities of the topography, of the consideration of the existing trees and the dexterity of the masons who explored the possibility of sprayed concrete. Skatepark Continua is a meeting place for experts as well as audiences of all generations.

Saison Nouvelle is a festival dedicated to exchange and creation!
To celebrate spring, two days of meetings, activities and performances around the theme of MEMORY are offered at Les Moulins during the months of May or June. In the old mill of the Moulin de Sainte-Marie, a new season of artists, dancers, musicians and people from the cultural sphere comes alive as they question themselves and the public on the concept of MEMORY.
Rather than the history of the industrial landscape, Saison Nouvelle takes the work of an artist as a starting point in order to open on the first day of Friday for schoolchildren, and on Saturday for the general public with meetings and collective creation workshops.
The cycle of talks, presentations and debates "Charlas Continuas" is a space for dialogue between the public and guests created since Galleria Continua opened its venue in Cuba. Within the framework of these meetings, the exchange of experiences and knowledge between spectators and artists who work with Galleria Continua is encouraged as curators, critics and other professionals in art or in other fields affiliated with us, or whose work we support on the occasion of these events.
Created in collaboration with the Rebirth Embassy / Third Paradise, a project by the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, the workshops “CreArte en Continua”, aimed primarily at children and young people, have as their main objective to use the potential of contemporary art as a resource for the development of expressive, cognitive and relational skills towards a more sustainable world, a philosophy derived from the very symbol of the Third Paradise.
In Arte Continua several events take place whose contents explore all types of discipline, from music, dance, photography and theatre, to literature, poetry, fashion, architecture, design, sound and sport, favoring experimental practices.
Officially created in April 2016, although its action on the island comes from the end of 2014, the Rebirth Embassy / Third Paradise in Cuba, together with the team of Arte Continua, carries out events to promote sustainability, demopraxia and sustainable and creative public and private projects already present in the area. At the end of each year the Forum Rebirth is held, where through group work, and based on the 17 Objectives of Sustainable Development of the UN, various regional and global problems are discussed, ending with the design of an actions agenda to be developed in the coming year and to be discussed in the following Forum. On the other hand, Zona Rayo Activa, inspired by the urban recovery of neglected sites, the sensitization of the community surrounding Galleria Continua (Havana's Chinatown) towards the respect of the public and private sphere and sustainability, is another of the most recurrent and far-reaching events in terms of public derived from the Third Paradise – Arte Continua alliance. Based on the philosophy of the Third Paradise and aiming at social transformation and exchange between people and creative/sustainable projects, it has transcended its original boundaries and has become an itinerant project.
