蔡国强,1957年出生于中国泉州市。他在上海戏剧学院接受了舞台设计的培训,随后他的作品跨越了绘画、装置、视频和表演等多个艺术媒介。在1986至1995年居住在日本期间,他在绘画中探索了火药的性质,这一探索最终促成了他标志性的爆破事件的创作。

 

蔡国强于1999年获得第48届威尼斯双年展金狮奖,2009年获得第20届福冈亚洲文化奖,2015年获得巴奈特与安娜莉·纽曼基金会奖,2016年获得博讷芬特当代艺术奖(BACA)。2012年,他被授予普利美奖(Praemium Imperiale)五位荣誉奖得主之一,这一奖项表彰艺术领域的终身成就,不包括诺贝尔奖的类别。此外,他还获得了美国国务院颁发的首届艺术奖,以表彰他在国际文化交流中的杰出贡献。蔡国强还担任了2008年北京夏季奥运会开闭幕式的视觉与特效总监。

蔡国强:烟花与火药打造“爆炸性”的当代艺术生涯

 

如今,居住和工作于纽约的蔡国强,或许是当代中国艺术家中在国际舞台上最具先锋精神的代表之一。他以烟花表演而闻名;蔡国强也使用火药来创作绘画作品,例如他最近在马德里的普拉多博物馆和佛罗伦萨的乌菲兹美术馆举办的个展中展出的作品。

蔡国强1957年出生于中国泉州市,成长于一个“艺术之家”,因为他的父亲是村里有名的画家。他的作品包括绘画、录像、装置和行为艺术。火药的使用并不是对传统的引用,而是源于艺术家与社会关系中的一种冲突。在其职业生涯初期,他使用火。他将油画点燃,并用吹风机将油漆吹到画布上。通过这种方式,他试图与自然元素如火和风产生共鸣。蔡国强在艺术中始终寻找一种解放的元素,以释放他的个性。他被火药的本质所吸引,因为它既具有创造性又具有破坏性。爆炸的瞬间在他的作品中至关重要;他对爆炸本身着迷。这是一个将时间和空间结合的瞬间。艺术家希望表现不可见的世界。爆炸之后,与宇宙融为一体。在绘画中,他试图以可见的方式表现出不可见的事物。
