对社会构成要素的重新诠释

 

纳里·瓦尔德的作品通常包含从其周围环境中收集物品的实践,通过创造对比,给观众留下开放的解读空间,往往回忆起重要的历史和社会时刻。他以由捡拾和收集材料构成的雕塑装置而闻名。他曾重新利用婴儿推车、购物车、瓶子、门、电视机、收银机和鞋带等物品作为创作材料。

他的创作方式让人联想到他家乡牙买加的多种民间传统,以及他在过去几十年间生活和工作的哈莱姆区的多样化材料。然而,纳里·瓦尔德并不犹豫从世界各地的特定语境中进行研究,探索并展现传统与变革之间的各种紧张关系。瓦尔德经常利用语义学、建筑和多样的结构形式来反映权力平衡、国家身份、种族主义以及历史记忆,这些因素塑造并影响了公民的行为,进而形成了我们的当代社会。
